Autism Spectrum Disorder assessments
Autism spectrum disorder (ASD) assessment plays an important role in the diagnosis of autistic patients. This assessment is designed to gather information about a person’s behavioural, developmental, and social interaction patterns and determine whether these traits are consistent with autism. At the end of the evaluation process, you will receive a comprehensive report with an embedded feedback session to demystify the content of the report. Further care will be recommended and provided when possible.
Autism Signs and Indicators
Some general signs and indicators for which an ASD assessment may be required are:
• Difficulty socializing
• Difficulty in social interaction
• Commit to restrictive or repetitive behaviours
• Developmental delays
• Minimal eye contact or difficulty with eye contact
• Speech delay or complete loss of language ability
• Strong sensory sensitivity
• Difficult to change and transition
Outcomes of an Autism Assessment
Information collected during the evaluation is analysed by a psychologist and a diagnosis is made based on established diagnostic criteria. An Autism Spectrum Disorder assessment is often required to provide a formal diagnosis that enables individuals and their families to understand and access appropriate interventions, support services and educational resources tailored to their specific needs. It also serves as the basis for developing treatment plans and receiving support in educational and community settings.
